The US Department of Agriculture has announced a free Christmas market in Washington, D.C., bringing farmers, food producers and craft sellers to its headquarters near the National Mall on December 2 and 3.
The November 3 announcement sets opening hours of 3 pm to 9 pm on both days. The venue is the front lawn of the USDA’s Whitten Building at 1400 Jefferson Drive SW, with Smithsonian listed as the nearby Metro station.
The programme is expected to include seasonal food, American-grown and American-made goods, Christmas trees and wreaths, live entertainment and carol singers. It is being organised as part of the closing celebrations for the United States’ 250th anniversary year.
Vendor applications are open through Manage My Market. Interested farmers, ranchers, producers, artisans and makers are asked to search for “The Great American Christmas Market” and complete the application materials. The announcement does not specify an application deadline or a final list of stalls.
