Thailand’s Grand Diwali Festival is scheduled to begin in Bangkok on November 3, opening a programme of seven celebrations across Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket through November 29. Admission to all seven events is free, according to the Tourism Authority of Thailand.
The opening event at Central Bangrak runs on November 3 and 4. A diya-lighting ceremony is planned for 5–6pm local time on the first day, followed by live Bollywood music. The programme combines Indian cultural performances, food and festive activities.
Later stops include ICONSIAM’s Riverpark on November 6–8 and Central Patong in Phuket on November 8. Pattaya’s programme includes events at Central Festival Pattaya Beach from November 7–15 and Beach Road from November 13–15.
The celebrations return to Bangkok’s Phahurat and Khlong Ong Ang area on November 20–24 before concluding at EmQuartier on November 26–29. The Indian Association of Thailand and Thai–India Trade and Tourism Association are organising the festival with TAT, the Indian Embassy and other partners.
