The Louvre’s photography exhibition, Louvre Photo, begins its scheduled run on November 4, bringing together more than 300 images of the Paris museum, its collections, visitors and working life.

The museum’s official programme places the exhibition in the Mezzanine Napoléon until May 3, 2027. Entry is included with a museum ticket, although the Louvre warns that visitors may still need to wait when the exhibition is busy.

The display spans the history of photography, from its early practitioners to contemporary photographers commissioned by the museum, including Robert Polidori. Galleries and artworks appear alongside staff, hidden rooms and behind-the-scenes spaces.

Material comes from the Louvre’s own photographic holdings and other French institutions, including the national archives, Bibliothèque nationale de France and Musée d’Orsay. The exhibition forms part of France’s photography bicentenary programme.

For families, the museum has prepared a selection of labels for children aged eight and above. Visitors should check timed admission and any additional guided-tour arrangements directly with the Louvre before travelling.
