The Competition Commission of India has approved the proposed merger of Sapphire Foods India Limited into Devyani International Limited and related transactions, according to a notice published by the regulator on 30 October 2026.

The proposal concerns two companies active in the quick-service restaurant business. Industry publication Restaurant India reported that their operations include KFC and Pizza Hut restaurants in India.

What the approval means

The competition regulator’s decision is an important step in the proposed transaction, but approval by itself does not establish that the merger has closed. Readers and investors should refer to the companies’ subsequent filings for the status of remaining conditions and implementation.

The companies’ business operations and the transaction’s eventual effects on individual restaurants will depend on implementation and any other required steps. The announcement does not itself specify changes to particular outlets, menus or prices.
