Seventh seed Anastasia Zakharova beat Polina Iatcenko 7–6(3), 6–1 on Tuesday, November 3, to reach the second round of the Chennai Open.

The WTA’s official match summary said the victory brought their head-to-head record level at one win apiece. Iatcenko had reached the quarterfinals of the Chennai tournament in 2025.

Zakharova took a closely contested opening set in a tiebreak, winning it seven points to three. She then conceded only one game in the second set to complete the straight-sets victory and secure a place in the last 16.

Tennis.com’s completed match record places the first-round contest on Court 1. Its player comparison lists Zakharova at No. 107 in the singles rankings and Iatcenko at No. 169.

The Chennai Open is a WTA 250 event played on outdoor hard courts at the SDAT Tennis Stadium. This year’s tournament runs from November 2 to 8 and has a 32-player singles draw.
