Wellington Firebirds recorded their largest Ford Trophy winning margin on November 4, beating Northern Districts by 202 runs at the Basin Reserve.
Wellington made 354 for seven before dismissing Northern for 152 in 35.1 overs. Mo Abbas scored 84 and Oscar Jackson 71, while Logan van Beek took four for 31 and Adam Milne three for 32.
New Zealand Cricket’s round-three report said the margin surpassed Wellington’s previous best of 193 runs against Otago in 2018–19. The bonus-point victory was Wellington’s first win of the campaign.
Elsewhere, Auckland beat Central Stags by 74 runs at Saxton Oval after posting 357 for seven. Dale Phillips scored his second century in three matches.
Otago defeated Canterbury by six wickets in Dunedin, reaching the target in 37 overs after restricting the visitors to 175 in a rain-shortened match. Auckland and Otago remained unbeaten after three rounds.
