Japan reached the men’s Asian Champions Trophy final on November 4, defeating Malaysia 5–3 in a shootout after their semifinal in Mohali ended 0–0.

The completed FIH match record shows Japan scored with all five attempts. Kazumasa Matsumoto, Ryoma Ooka, Tsubasa Tanaka and Haruki Ochiai converted before Seren Tanaka delivered the fifth successful attempt.

Malaysia did not score from its opening attempt through Faizal Saari. Aiman Rozemi, Shello Silverius and Abu Kamal Azrai then converted, but Japan’s flawless sequence kept the lead intact and settled the contest.

Japan will face the winner of India’s semifinal against Korea in the final on November 5. The official schedule lists that title match for 7 pm IST in Mohali, with Malaysia heading to the bronze-medal playoff at 4:30 pm. Japan had also beaten Malaysia 2–1 in their round-robin meeting on November 2.
