Mahatma Gandhi Antarrashtriya Hindi Vishwavidyalaya in Wardha has scheduled a two-day national seminar for November 4 and 5 to mark 200 years of Hindi journalism. The university’s Department of Mass Communication is organising the programme, according to a Ministry of Education announcement issued on November 3.
The sessions will examine the history of Hindi journalism alongside its present-day responsibilities. Artificial intelligence, including its ethical questions and challenges for journalism, is among the planned themes. Other discussions will cover language, culture and social concerns in a changing media environment.
The announced speakers include journalism university vice-chancellor Manoj Dayal, former National Book Trust chairman Baldev Bhai Sharma and Sapre Museum founder Vijay Datt Shridhar. Former Indian Institute of Mass Communication director general Sanjay Dwivedi is also listed.
Vice-chancellor Kumud Sharma is the seminar’s patron, while assistant professor Renu Singh is coordinating it. The programme brings academics and senior journalists together for discussions spanning the profession’s historical development and future practice.
