Vietnam Airlines has begun direct flights between Ahmedabad and Hanoi, with its inaugural services operating on November 3 and the return journey reaching Vietnam the following morning.

In a November 4 account of the launch, the airline said the first Hanoi–Ahmedabad flight, VN969, carried 120 passengers. The Ahmedabad–Hanoi service, VN968, carried 195. Both were operated with Airbus A321 aircraft.

The airline said a welcome ceremony took place at Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, attended by Vietnamese diplomatic representatives. The launch was also reported by Vietnam News Agency.

The route operates four round trips a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Ahmedabad becomes the carrier’s fifth passenger destination in India, alongside Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.

The addition takes Vietnam Airlines’ India network to seven routes and 25 weekly round trips. Travellers should check their booking for the latest departure arrangements.

Updated November 4: the inaugural flights have now operated, following the previously announced schedule.
