The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has scheduled the launch of Vayo Samman Rashtriya Abhiyan for November 4 in New Delhi, according to its November 3 announcement. Union Minister Virendra Kumar is due to introduce the intergenerational-bonding campaign under the Atal Vayo Abhyuday Yojana.
The initiative is intended to create regular contact between senior citizens and younger people through conversation, shared projects, mentoring and digital assistance. Its five-part framework is Connect, Converse, Co-create, Contribute and Continue.
A related Vayo SAATHI volunteer initiative is designed for citizens aged 18 and above. The ministry said volunteers would support older people with information, community activities and access to services.
A campaign handbook and partnerships with two civil-society organisations are also planned for the launch programme.
