Top seed Janice Tjen advanced to the second round of the Chennai Open with a 6–1, 6–2 victory over American wild card Katherine Hui on Tuesday, November 3.

The Indonesian completed the first-round match in 59 minutes, according to the WTA’s official match summary. She will next face Joanna Garland, with a place in the quarterfinals at stake.

Tjen dropped only three games across the two sets, taking the opener for the loss of one game before closing out the second. Tennis.com’s completed match record confirms the result and lists Court 1 as the venue for the contest.

The win keeps the tournament’s top seed in the singles draw while ending Hui’s campaign in that event. Chennai’s WTA 250 tournament runs from November 2 to 8, with 32 singles players competing on the outdoor hard courts of the SDAT Tennis Stadium.
