Thoothukudi district plans to introduce a new digital procedure for subsidised fertiliser purchases during the first week of November, according to a district notice issued on November 4.

The announcement describes a second-phase expansion of the Framework for Fertilizer Sale, following its introduction in Sivaganga and Erode. The system links farmers’ requirements with land and crop details and produces a QR code for collection at a selected authorised outlet.

Farmers can register requirements through the FFS service using a phone, computer or Common Service Centre. The notice also provides for landowners without a farmer identification number and cultivators, including tenants, to enter their land and crop information.

People who need help registering are directed to nearby agricultural extension centres, primary agricultural cooperative credit societies or fertiliser outlets.

Retailers are asked to reconcile physical stocks with point-of-sale records. The notice gives a rollout window rather than an exact commencement date, so it does not establish that every outlet is already operating the new system.
