Tenkasi district has scheduled doorstep delivery of November’s essential commodities for November 4 and 5 under Tamil Nadu’s Thayumanavar scheme.
The district administration’s notice, published on November 2, says the service is for eligible ration-card holders aged over 70 and ration-card holders with disabilities. It is intended to help people who cannot visit fair-price shops to collect their supplies.
Staff from the relevant fair-price shops are to take commodities including rice, pulses, cooking oil and sugar directly to beneficiaries’ homes. District Collector Monika Rana asked eligible card holders to use the service.
The announcement concerns the November distribution schedule in Tenkasi. It does not confirm that every scheduled delivery has already been completed or extend doorstep service to all households.
The notice explains that ordinary monthly public-distribution supplies remain available through fair-price shops; the home-delivery arrangement addresses access difficulties faced by the specified beneficiary groups.
