Telangana is seeking to broaden international interest in its heritage destinations and attract private investment for potential wedding venues in historic forts, according to tourism director L. Ranjeet Nayak.

In an interview published on November 4 with TravTalk at WTM London, Nayak said the department wanted tour operators to build itineraries extending beyond Hyderabad.

He suggested routes linking the state capital with Warangal and Nagarjunasagar, with further options around Adilabad and Bhadradri Kothagudem. Heritage, Buddhist tourism and local cultural experiences form part of the pitch.

The department has held workshops for travel businesses within Telangana and completed a roadshow in Ahmedabad, he said. Wider domestic outreach and overseas engagement are planned.

Nayak also described an intention to refurbish historic forts with private investment and subsequently explore hospitality and wedding-management partnerships. The interview did not identify awarded contracts, specific participating forts or completion dates.

The proposals outline tourism-development priorities. They do not yet establish new venues available for travellers or wedding bookings.
