Planning work for the proposed Taliparamba Zoo Safari Park in Kannur is to move ahead with site mapping, boundary surveys and a concept note, according to a Kerala government notice published on November 4.
At a local committee review, District Collector P. Vishnuraj directed officials to appoint specialist agencies through tender to speed up the layout plan, contour mapping and boundary demarcation. The state’s Land Use Board has already been approached about preparing the layout and contour map.
The Plantation Corporation has been assigned to value, classify and number more than 60,000 trees in the project area. It has submitted an estimate of ₹11 lakh for that work, the committee was told. This is an assessment exercise, not an announcement of tree felling.
A project concept note is to be prepared within six weeks, and an environmental impact study is planned. The collector also called for parking, food-service and toilet facilities in the design. No visitor opening date was announced.
