Synology released survey findings on November 3 showing that 64% of Indian respondents had made new data-protection purchases following a security incident. The figure was higher than the corresponding shares in Australia and the Middle East and Africa.
The company-commissioned study was conducted by Foundry between May 11 and June 2, 2026. It covered 308 IT decision-makers across the three markets, all at organisations with at least 100 employees and existing data-protection systems. The sample should not be read as a count of all Indian businesses.
Across all surveyed markets, 99% expressed confidence in their organisation’s resilience, but only 43% reported real-time or continuous data protection. One-fifth said recovery was tested only occasionally, indicating a gap between confidence and routine operational checks.
In India, infrastructure upgrades prompted purchases among 46% of respondents, while cost reduction was cited by 32%. The findings are vendor-sponsored research, not an independent audit of company security. They describe respondents’ reported practices rather than proving how organisations would perform during an actual disruption.
