Sudhakar Dalela, India’s newly appointed ambassador to Nepal, arrived in Kathmandu on November 3 to take up his diplomatic assignment. The Indian embassy confirmed the arrival in a dated announcement on its official website.
Representatives of Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Indian embassy welcomed him at Tribhuvan International Airport, according to KathmanduPati and OnlineKhabar. His arrival is the new development; the appointment itself was announced on October 16.
Dalela, an Indian Foreign Service officer from the 1993 batch, succeeds Naveen Srivastava. Before this assignment, he served as Secretary for Economic Relations in India’s Ministry of External Affairs. His earlier diplomatic experience includes service as India’s ambassador to Bhutan.
The move places a new head at India’s diplomatic mission in Nepal. The embassy’s November 3 notice records his arrival in Kathmandu, while the accompanying reports describe him as coming to take up the assignment. They do not establish that a formal presentation of credentials has already taken place.
