Jason Robertson scored a natural hat trick as the Dallas Stars defeated the Washington Capitals 6–5 on November 3. His three consecutive goals arrived within five minutes and 20 seconds early in the second period, helping Dallas establish a 4–0 lead.
The burst was the third-fastest natural hat trick in franchise history, according to Associated Press. Robertson began it on the power play, then added two more goals as Washington replaced starting goaltender Logan Thompson with Charlie Lindgren.
Mikko Rantanen, Roope Hintz and Joel Kiviranta also scored for Dallas. Jake Oettinger made 20 saves as the Stars earned points in a fifth consecutive road game.
Washington fought back through Jordan Kyrou, Boone Jenner, Jakob Chychrun, Justin Sourdif and Ryan Leonard. Leonard’s late goal reduced the deficit to one with 62 seconds remaining, but the Capitals could not force overtime.
Dallas next visits Columbus on November 5. Washington completes its three-game home stretch against Florida on November 7.
