Indian writers Manu Joseph, Ruchir Joshi, Jerry Pinto and Satish Padmanabhan are among the guests announced for the inaugural Shangri-La Literature Festival in Lalitpur, Nepal. Reports published on November 4 set the two-day event for December 26 and 27 at Hotel Himalaya.

Festival director Ken Subedi told The Rising Nepal that at least six award-winning authors from India would participate. The Kathmandu Shangrila Foundation is organising the programme, following its yearlong Shangri-La Sambad series of literary conversations.

According to OnlineKhabar’s account of the announcement, discussions are planned across two simultaneous venues, covering books, film, society, visual arts and performance. Proposed themes include translation, poetry, children’s writing, women’s literature, young readers and artificial intelligence.

Book stalls and signing sessions are also planned, alongside cultural dances at the opening and instrumental music at the close. The reports do not provide ticket prices or a registration process. The announcement establishes a December programme; it does not indicate that public admission bookings have opened.
