Solar Energy Corporation of India and Odisha Hydro Power Corporation have signed a binding term sheet for a 50:50 partnership to develop floating solar projects with battery storage across Odisha’s reservoirs.
In a November 4 announcement, OHPC said the partners are targeting approximately 3 GW of renewable capacity by 2030. Power purchases are envisaged through GRIDCO.
The proposed projects would pair solar panels installed on water with batteries, allowing some generation to be stored for use during peak demand. The announcement does not specify which reservoirs will be used, the battery-storage capacity or the project costs.
The term sheet is a development milestone, rather than confirmation that the joint venture’s plants have been built or begun supplying electricity. Individual project approvals, construction and commissioning remain separate steps.
