Securities and Exchange Board of India signed an agreement with the Digital India BHASHINI Division on November 3 to make its services more accessible in regional Indian languages.

According to SEBI’s announcement, the partnership gives the regulator access to BHASHINI’s translation interfaces and language models, along with tools for recognising speech, converting text into speech and extracting text from images or scanned documents.

The two organisations will also work on adding securities-market terminology to BHASHINI’s language models. The announcement does not identify which SEBI services will receive the language tools first or give a public rollout timetable.

The memorandum was signed by SEBI Whole-Time Member Sandip Pradhan and BHASHINI chief executive Amitabh Nag and took effect the same day.

BHASHINI operates within Digital India Corporation, a not-for-profit company established by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
