Qualifier Aliaksandra Sasnovich reached the Hong Kong Tennis Open quarterfinals on November 4, defeating fifth seed Talia Gibson 6–1, 5–7, 7–6(7) after three hours and four minutes.

The WTA’s official results confirmed the completed second-round match. Sasnovich took the opening set comfortably, but Gibson forced a decider before the qualifier won the final tiebreak 9–7.

Sasnovich hit eight aces and converted six of 13 break points, according to Tennis.com’s match record. Gibson made four breaks from ten opportunities, keeping the contest close after the one-sided first set.

The victory follows Sasnovich’s 6–3, 6–2 opening-round win over Katie Volynets. Gibson, who had beaten Oleksandra Oliynykova in the first round, exits the singles draw at the last-16 stage.
