Sachin Tendulkar has become an investor and brand ambassador for Metasports Interactive, the Hyderabad company behind the mobile cricket strategy game Hitwicket.

The association was announced on November 3 and is confirmed on Hitwicket’s official website. The investment amount and company valuation have not been disclosed.

Hitwicket centres on managing a team and making tactical choices, rather than only testing batting or bowling reflexes. Players build squads, develop characters and decide how to respond to different match situations.

According to MediaNews4u’s report, Tendulkar will appear in the game’s experiences, content and promotional activities. The company also wants to draw on his understanding of cricket to develop its strategic gameplay.

Metasports says it wants to reach 100 million downloads over three years. That is a company target, not an achieved audience figure. The new partnership combines investment with brand promotion, while the longer-term business outcome will depend on whether the game attracts and retains players.
