The Reserve Bank of India launched the November rounds of three household surveys on November 3, seeking fresh information on inflation expectations and consumer confidence for its monetary-policy assessments.

The Inflation Expectations Survey of Households covers 19 cities. It asks people how they perceive current inflation and how they expect prices to change over the next three months and year, based on their own consumption patterns.

A separate urban consumer-confidence survey covers the same cities and asks about the economy, employment, prices, household income and spending. The rural survey collects current views and one-year expectations from rural and semi-urban households across 31 states and Union territories.

Hansa Research Group will conduct the inflation and urban surveys, while Ipsos Research will carry out the rural survey, according to the RBI’s notices.

The bank says people who are not contacted by the survey agencies can also respond using the schedules linked in its official announcements. The releases announce data collection, not new survey findings or a decision on interest rates.
