India’s Ankita Raina and Japan’s Hiroko Kuwata were knocked out of the Chennai Open doubles competition on November 4, losing 6–1, 6–1 to Gabriella Da Silva Fick and Zhibek Kulambayeva.

The Australian–Kazakh pairing completed the first-round match in 59 minutes, the WTA’s official scoreboard confirmed. The straight-sets result sends Da Silva Fick and Kulambayeva into the quarterfinals.

The winners held all seven of their service games and saved both break points they faced, according to Tennis.com’s completed match statistics. They also broke the Kuwata–Raina serve five times from ten opportunities, giving them control of both sets on Court 2.

Kulambayeva had already reached the singles second round with a victory over Mei Yamaguchi. Wednesday’s doubles result gives her progress in both draws, while ending Raina and Kuwata’s campaign together at the WTA 250 tournament in Chennai.
