The National Institute of Technology Raipur opened a Centre of Excellence for Aerospace and Autonomous Technologies on November 3, as part of a wider expansion of its research facilities.

The centre has been established with AKSI Aerospace Group. Its planned work includes drone platforms, flight-control systems, propulsion, batteries and advanced materials, according to India Strategic’s report. Students and researchers are expected to gain experience in engineering design, prototyping, manufacturing and testing.

Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy confirmed the November 3 inauguration of research centres at the institute on his official website. Local reporting by Dispatch News also places the aerospace facility among the centres opened that day, alongside NIT Raipur’s seventeenth convocation.

AKSI has separately described plans for a manufacturing plant in Raipur. That proposed plant should not be confused with the research centre already inaugurated: the available announcement does not establish that a new factory has begun operating.
