Two hundred newly recruited Income Tax Department office superintendents began a 30-day induction programme in Mumbai on November 3. The course is the second batch of Navodaya-2026, run by the National Academy of Direct Taxes’ Mumbai regional campus at the city’s Ministerial Staff Training Units.
According to the Finance Ministry’s announcement, the Mumbai campus has responsibility for training 1,438 recruits from the Mumbai and Pune regions. The department has taken on approximately 6,626 direct-recruit office superintendents nationwide during the 2026–27 financial year.
Chief Commissioner of Income Tax-10, Mumbai, Meeta Singh inaugurated the programme. She urged participants to use the course to develop their understanding of procedures and office management, alongside the knowledge required for their new roles.
Regional campus head Navneet Manohar addressed the trainees on integrity, empathy, technology adoption and continued skills development. The new batch forms part of a larger induction effort as the department brings this group of recruits into its administrative workforce.
