Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman has signed with the Melbourne Renegades for the 2026–27 Big Bash League, the club announced on November 4. The deal sets up his first appearance in Australia’s domestic T20 competition.
The left-armer, who has taken more than 400 wickets in T20 cricket, will join the squad after completing his ILT20 commitments. That overlap means he will miss the Renegades’ opening fixture in Chennai.
Renegades general manager Max Abbott said the club wanted a specialist for the closing overs. Cricbuzz reported that the team is planning for Mustafizur to be available against the Sydney Sixers at the SCG on December 22, while his earlier availability depends on his ILT20 campaign.
Coach Luke Ronchi highlighted his ability to take wickets with the new ball and at the end of an innings. The Renegades also announced a dedicated “Fizz Bay” supporter section at the MCG for home games on January 1 and January 16.
