Robin Montgomery reached the Chennai Open quarterfinals on November 4, defeating Belgium’s Jeline Vandromme 6–4, 3–6, 7–5 in a match lasting two hours and 58 minutes.

The American won the opening set before Vandromme levelled the contest. Montgomery then took the deciding set by the narrowest possible two-game margin to secure her place in the last eight, according to the WTA’s official results.

Tennis.com’s completed match record shows Montgomery saved 13 of the 16 break points she faced and converted four of nine opportunities on Vandromme’s serve. She finished with six aces.

It was Montgomery’s second consecutive three-set win in Chennai, following her opening-round victory over fourth seed Panna Udvardy. Vandromme had beaten Kyoka Okamura to reach this stage. Wednesday’s result keeps Montgomery in contention at the WTA 250 event, which runs through November 8.
