Manchester United came from two goals down to beat Roma 3-2 at Old Trafford in the Champions League on November 3. Matheus Cunha scored twice late in the second half to turn the match around after Bruno Fernandes had started the comeback from the penalty spot.
Roma led at half-time through Matias Soulé’s opener and a Donyell Malen penalty. United reduced the deficit in the 58th minute when Fernandes converted a retaken spot-kick.
According to Sky Sports’ match report, Cunha equalised in the 83rd minute and struck again in the 86th. His second goal came from a Shea Lacey pass and put the home side ahead for the first time.
Cunha was subsequently sent off in stoppage time, leaving United to protect their narrow lead through the final moments. They held on to secure the three points.
The victory ended United’s nine-match winless run, Sky Sports reported. Reuters independently confirmed the comeback, the final score and Cunha’s decisive late double.
