Nick Schmaltz scored on the power play with six minutes and 48 seconds remaining as the Utah Mammoth beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 3–2 on November 3. Clayton Keller assisted on all three Utah goals in the victory at Scotiabank Arena.
Dylan Guenther gave the visitors the lead near the end of the first period. Jack Roslovic equalised in the second before Andrew Peeke restored Utah’s advantage, leaving Toronto a goal behind heading into the final period.
Roslovic scored again at 9:05 of the third to make it 2–2. Auston Matthews assisted on both of his goals. The tie did not last, however, as Schmaltz converted a loose puck after Toronto goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky stopped Keller’s initial chance.
Sebastian Cossa made 27 saves for the Mammoth, while Bobrovsky finished with 33. Utah improved to 10–6–0 and Toronto slipped to 8–7–2. The Maple Leafs were unable to score on either of their two power-play opportunities, while Utah converted twice with the extra skater.
