Actor Mahesh Babu has joined Mumbai-based Shortgun Games as a strategic investor, backing a studio developing original titles for personal computers and consoles.

The association, reported on November 3, is confirmed on Shortgun’s own website. The amount invested has not been disclosed.

Founded by Jeet Chandan and Vidhit Mehta, the studio is working on Project Takedown, a story-led action-adventure game intended for international audiences. Its development plans include PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, according to Indian Television’s report.

Action director Vicky Arora is involved in the project’s combat design, including motion-capture choreography and physical stunt work. The studio also lists the cooperative indie project Roll ’em Out among its games.

The investment is a business and development announcement, not the release of a playable finished title. Shortgun’s aim is to build Indian-developed entertainment franchises for audiences beyond the domestic market; whether its games achieve that ambition will depend on the completed products and their reception.
