Lucknow’s Indira Gandhi Planetarium will run a 15-day introductory astronomy and astrophysics course between November 15 and December 25, according to a November 2 Uttar Pradesh government notice. Sessions will take place in person on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, rather than on 15 consecutive days.

The Certificate Course in Astronomy & Astrophysics – Level I will cover the solar system, stars and constellations, celestial coordinates, telescope operation, the Sun and space weather, and night-sky observation. Lectures will be combined with practical activities.

The registration fee is ₹1,000. The programme is planned for at least 15 and no more than 50 participants, with certificates for those who successfully complete it.

Students, researchers, teachers and other interested members of the public may participate. Science undergraduates and postgraduates will receive preference, the notice says, but an interest in astronomy is sufficient for eligibility.

The Lucknow Tribune also reported the schedule and fee. The planetarium operates under the Council of Science and Technology, Uttar Pradesh.
