Brayden Point scored twice in the first period as the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Detroit Red Wings 4–2 on November 3. The victory extended Tampa Bay’s winning start at home to seven games and improved its overall record to 9–3–2.
Nikita Kucherov assisted on both of Point’s goals. The first came on the power play, and Point added his second just over five minutes later to give the hosts a 2–0 advantage at the first intermission.
Anthony Cirelli stretched the lead to three in the second period before Lucas Raymond brought Detroit onto the scoreboard. J.T. Compher’s third-period power-play goal then reduced the margin to 3–2, setting up a tense finish.
Andrei Vasilevskiy made 19 saves as Tampa Bay protected its narrow lead. Detroit removed its goaltender for an extra attacker late on, but Ryan McDonagh sealed the result with an empty-net goal in the final second. The Lightning next host Chicago on November 5.
