Kimi Antonelli secured his first Formula 1 drivers’ world championship at the Mexico City Grand Prix on 1 November 2026. The Mercedes driver finished third, a result sufficient to seal the title with four rounds remaining, according to Formula 1.
Max Verstappen won the race for Red Bull Racing, with Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton finishing second. Official race results show Hamilton crossing the line 0.799 seconds behind the winner. Antonelli joined them on the podium.
Formula 1 said Antonelli became the youngest world champion in the championship’s history. His championship was settled at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, even though the season continues with the São Paulo Grand Prix in Brazil.
What comes next?
The title decision does not end the 2026 season. The published F1 calendar lists São Paulo, Las Vegas, Qatar and Abu Dhabi as the remaining rounds. Race schedules and results should be checked with Formula 1 for the latest updates.
