The Keralam Cabinet on November 4 approved the draft Memorandum of Association and Articles of Association for a special purpose vehicle intended to implement an International Maritime Museum and an Oceanarium, Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan said.

According to PTI’s report of his post-Cabinet briefing, the entity will be registered as a Section 8 company and initially established as a foundation. The projects form part of the state’s Mission Samudra programme.

The proposed museum would present Keralam’s maritime history. Satheesan also outlined plans for an oceanarium with modern facilities, but the economic model for developing and operating the projects will be decided later.

The approval is an administrative step towards the planned attractions. It does not mean either venue is ready to receive visitors. The briefing did not provide a public opening date, ticketing arrangements or a final project cost.
