Cultural performances, eco-collages and exhibitions brought pastoral heritage into focus at a public gathering at Government Degree College Kargil on November 3.
The event concluded “Landscapes of Possibilities: Youth Convening for Sustainable and Resilient Futures”, according to a Ladakh administration report published on November 4. A workshop held from October 31 to November 2 had brought together young people from pastoral communities in Ladakh and elsewhere in India.
Participants used theatre, storytelling, movement and collective art to explore livelihoods, cultural identity and ecological change. Sangeeta Isvaran, founder of Katradi Trust, facilitated the workshop.
The November 3 gathering included performances by Team Stringmo and college students, alongside talks and displays about rangeland communities. GDC Kargil worked with Ladakh’s Higher Education Department, ATREE, Katradi Trust and Achi Association India on the initiative.
