Jupiter Wagons announced business worth ₹324.04 crore, including GST, for automobile-carrying rail wagons on November 2. The package combines a letter of intent from GATX India with a separate firm order from Chetak International.
The company said GATX’s letter covers 10 rakes, or 270 ACT2 wagons, valued at ₹214.94 crore. Chetak’s order covers five rakes, comprising 135 wagons, worth ₹109.10 crore. Together, the two arrangements concern 405 wagons.
The distinction matters: the GATX component is described as a letter of intent rather than a completed firm order. PTI’s report, carried by Rediff, also sets out the two commitments separately and confirms that the combined value includes GST.
ACT2 is the manufacturer’s automobile-carrier wagon platform. The announcement adds private leasing and logistics customers to its recent railway business. It follows a separate ₹1,140 crore Railway Board order for 2,583 freight wagons. No delivery timetable was specified in the November 2 press release.
