The 14th Indian Film Festival opened in Seoul on November 3 with a screening of Newton at the Korean Film Archive, beginning a six-city programme scheduled to continue across South Korea until November 29.
Aju Press reported from the opening, confirming that the first screening took place. The Seoul leg runs through November 7 before the festival visits Yangsan, Gwangju, Miryang, Incheon and Busan.
The archive’s programme lists six films: Newton, Queen, Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Manjhi – The Mountain Man, Sui Dhaaga: Made in India and Sardar Udham. The selection brings together personal journeys, family stories and historical drama rather than concentrating on a single style of Indian filmmaking.
The Korean Film Archive, Indian Embassy and Indian Cultural Centre are co-hosting the Seoul screenings at Cinematheque KOFA 1. Seoul’s official tourism listing says admission is free and directs audiences to the archive’s website for reservations. Visitors should check individual screening times and seat availability before travelling.
