IndiaAI Mission released Soket Labs’ EKA-1 and ZenteiQ’s Dhīr 2B and Dhīr 5B artificial-intelligence models in New Delhi on November 3, adding new homegrown systems aimed at multilingual and locally deployed AI services.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology said EKA-1 has 26.3 billion parameters and was trained on approximately 7.5 trillion tokens. It supports all 22 scheduled Indian languages and English, with a focus on mathematics, coding, reasoning and agent-based tasks.
ZenteiQ’s two open-source Dhīr models support English and 10 Indian languages, according to the ministry. They are designed for deployment within an organisation’s own infrastructure and for offline-capable tasks such as retrieving information and working with documents, including in low-connectivity environments.
The developers received support through the IndiaAI Innovation Centre’s foundation-model programme, including access to subsidised computing infrastructure and research assistance.
