India won silver in the women’s 10m air-rifle team event at the ISSF World Championships in Doha on November 3, with Elavenil Valarivan, Sonam Maskar and Shambhavi Kshirsagar combining for 1894.4 points.

The official team results placed China first on 1899.8 and Japan third on 1892.6. Elavenil contributed 634.2, Maskar 630.5 and Kshirsagar 629.7. India finished 5.4 points behind the champions and 1.8 ahead of Japan.

Elavenil also advanced to the individual final, where she finished sixth with 167.3. South Korea’s Ban Hyojin won gold with 253.1, ahead of China’s Han Jiayu on 252.2. Wang Zifei, also of China, took bronze with 231.0.

The team medal and individual result are separate competitions. The team event is not an Olympic discipline, and Elavenil’s sixth place did not secure a Los Angeles 2028 quota. The outcome therefore gave India a world-championship podium finish while leaving its Olympic qualification hopes in this event unfulfilled.
