India and the United Kingdom discussed closer tourism cooperation at a ministerial meeting in London on November 3, with connectivity and heritage travel among the subjects raised.

Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat met UK tourism minister Stephanie Peacock during World Travel Market, according to a Press Trust of India report. Shekhawat said the discussion covered cultural and heritage tourism, stronger connections between the two countries and opportunities for tourism businesses to work together.

The meeting took place alongside India’s participation in the travel trade exhibition at ExCeL London, running from November 3 to 5. Shekhawat also inaugurated the India Pavilion, where the country is presenting its destinations and tourism offerings to international buyers and industry representatives.

The bilateral discussion adds a government-level element to those business meetings. The report did not announce a new flight service, a visa change or a signed tourism agreement arising from the talks. For travellers, the immediate development is an effort to deepen cooperation rather than a new bookable product.
