India and Qatar have discussed closer tourism cooperation during a meeting between Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Qatar Tourism chairman Saad bin Ali Al Kharji at World Travel Market in London.
Akashvani reported on November 4 that Shekhawat’s account of the discussion covered greater tourist exchanges, stronger connectivity and opportunities in cultural, heritage and experiential tourism.
The minister described people-to-people ties as a basis for developing the tourism relationship. The public account sets out areas for cooperation rather than a detailed implementation programme.
The meeting forms part of India’s engagement at the three-day travel trade show, taking place at ExCeL London from November 3 to 5. It is separate from the minister’s talks with the United Kingdom’s tourism minister.
No new flight route, visa concession or bookable tourism product was announced in the account of the Qatar meeting. Travellers should not treat the discussion as a change to existing entry or travel requirements.
