India finished top of the medal table at the 46th Tammer boxing tournament in Tampere, Finland, collecting four gold, two silver and eight bronze medals. Reports published on November 2 confirmed the 14-medal return after the tournament’s final day.

Aarti Dhariyal won the women’s 54kg title, Ankushita Boro took gold at 65kg and Arundhati Choudhary won the 70kg category. Pawan Bartwal added India’s fourth gold in the men’s 55kg division, according to ANI’s report published by The Tribune.

European Boxing’s account of the competition also placed India first in the team standings. It reported that Dhariyal defeated Scotland’s Stephanie Kernachan, Boro beat England’s Ella Thompstone and Choudhary overcame Ireland’s Evelyn Igharo in their finals.

The competition was held at Pyynikki Sports Hall, with the organisers’ programme listing bouts from October 30 through November 1. India had sent a 14-member squad. The result brought medals across the delegation rather than being concentrated in a single weight category.
