Quentin Halys defeated Britain’s Arthur Fery 7–6(6), 7–5 in the opening round of the Paris Masters on November 3, securing his first main-draw victory at the tournament.

The Frenchman held all 12 of his service games and saved each of the three break points he faced, according to the Tennis.com scorecard. His 17 aces were more than double Fery’s eight, giving him an important advantage in a match with few opportunities for either returner.

Halys survived two set points in the opening tie-break before taking it 8–6. He then found the decisive break late in the second set to finish the match in one hour and 38 minutes, the tournament reported.

Fery held 11 of his 12 service games, but could not turn his own chances into a breakthrough. Halys converted one of two break opportunities. The victory set up a second-round meeting with seventh seed Frances Tiafoe, extending the home player’s run after earlier unsuccessful main-draw appearances in Paris.
