Taylor Fritz recovered from losing the opening set to defeat French qualifier Benjamin Bonzi 3–6, 6–3, 6–4 at the Paris Masters on Tuesday, November 3. The 11th seed advanced to a second-round meeting with Slovakia’s Alex Molcan.

The French Tennis Federation’s match report records 20 aces from Fritz, who turned the contest around after Bonzi took the first set on Court 1. The American won the next two sets to keep his Paris campaign alive.

Tennis Majors reports that the match lasted one hour and 42 minutes. Bonzi broke for a 3–1 lead in the opener, but Fritz struck early in the second set to bring the contest level.

Fritz then broke in the opening game of the deciding set and saved a break point in the following game. He finished on his first match point, having saved five of the six break points he faced overall.

His next opponent, qualifier Molcan, reached the second round by beating French wildcard Titouan Droguet in three sets on Monday.
