Polish qualifier Weronika Falkowska defeated former Chennai Open champion Linda Fruhvirtova 7–6(3), 6–4 on Tuesday, November 3, to advance to the second round of the Indian WTA 250 tournament.
The WTA’s official match summary identifies the result as Falkowska’s second career tour-level victory and her first since beating Kateryna Volodko at Gdynia in 2021. The 26-year-old entered the match ranked No. 277.
Falkowska won the opening-set tiebreak seven points to three, then took the second set 6–4 to finish without needing a decider. The result ended Fruhvirtova’s singles campaign at a tournament she won in 2022.
The completed match record from Tennis confirms the score, first-round status and Centre Court setting. Falkowska had reached the main draw through qualifying, making this another step forward in her Chennai campaign.
The victory puts her into the last 16 of the singles competition. Chennai’s tournament is being played on outdoor hard courts, with the event scheduled to conclude on November 8.
