The shooting world championships opened in Doha on November 2, ahead of the first qualification events for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. The ISSF schedule lists three Olympic quota places each for the men’s and women’s 10m air rifle events on November 3.

Across the championship, 36 places are available in 12 individual Olympic events. The official programme runs from November 1 to 14 and covers rifle, pistol and shotgun disciplines.

India’s squad includes established pistol shooters Manu Bhaker and Suruchi Phogat alongside less experienced competitors, The Indian Express reported. The newspaper describes the competition as the beginning of India’s latest Olympic qualification campaign.

A November 2 broadcast announcement says all finals will be available live and free on the federation’s official YouTube channel. The opening ceremony featured a digital parade of national flags and performances of Qatari dance before competition began.
