Northern Railway has suspended platform-ticket sales at six Delhi-area stations from November 3 to 14 to manage the expected Diwali and Chhath passenger rush.

The restriction covers New Delhi, Delhi Junction, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Ghaziabad, Anand Vihar Terminal and Anand Vihar Halt. It affects people visiting platforms to accompany travellers, rather than tickets for the train journey itself.

The railway’s notice allows exemptions for people assisting elderly, sick, disabled or illiterate passengers, and women passengers who need help. Families making station drop-offs should account for the temporary restrictions rather than assume ordinary platform access will be available.

Separate parcel measures also begin on November 3. Departmental parcel bookings at New Delhi, Delhi Junction and Anand Vihar Terminal are restricted through November 15, with loading and unloading curbs starting November 5. Northern Railway says passengers may still carry personal luggage in passenger coaches. Its parcel notice retains specified exceptions for operational sidings and registered newspapers and magazines, subject to public safety.
