Coimbatore district launched the Sigaram Nokki higher-education and career-guidance field-trip programme on November 3, with visits planned for 13,563 students in Classes 9 and 11.
District Collector Pavan Kumar G. Giriyappanavar inaugurated the programme for the 2026–27 academic year. The district administration says participating students will visit institutions and industries between November 3 and January 31, 2027, to learn about career opportunities and further-study pathways.
Dinamalar reported that the visits span several fields. The largest group, 3,985 students, is assigned to information technology and software exposure, while 2,541 will explore agriculture. Other areas include startups and industries, legal services, museums and archaeology, defence services, and visual communication and media.
The initiative takes career guidance beyond classroom explanations by organising visits to places connected with different occupations. The announced total covers the programme as a whole, rather than attendance on its opening day. The official notice confirms the launch and overall schedule but does not publish a school-by-school itinerary or individual travel dates.
